Dressing 4 Disney - Night & Day

Disney World has many facets to it. On the surface, to the uninitiated it appears to be "just a theme park".  Be we who have taken the opportunity to fully embrace Disney know it is so much more.

People are always surprised when I tell them that fully half the reason we love to go to Disney is for the food! We have a sit-down meal nearly every night of our trip, some of them quite swanky (and there are entire blogs dedicated to the food at Disney, like my favorite DisneyFoodBlog.com, for instance.) Sure, some people will still walk in with cargo shorts and muscle tees, but that's fine. We're not there to look at everyone else, we're there to enjoy one another's company, soak in the joyful atmosphere, appreciate excellent customer service, and of course eat delicious cuisine from around the world (and World !).

By day, we are riding ALL THE THINGS, taking in silly shows, laughing, and running around being grown-up kids. We are eating Dole Whips, singing along with the Country Bears, "Yarrrrr'ing" like pirates, and getting soaked on Splash Mountain. As you might imagine, these two experiences are like night and day--the swanky grown-ups and the silly kids sides of both of us get equal time at Disney World.

So when planning a wardrobe for the parks, there are almost like two "me's" going. And figuring out how to fit two me's-worth of clothes into a checked bag and a carry on is a delightful dilemma. Mixing and matching elements is key to making a 10-day trip comfortable AND fashionable.

For us, we take a mid-day break almost every day. We head back to our hotel room to relax, maybe take a shower to wash off the sweat from the heat of the day, touch up hair and/or makeup, and often change outfits from our running-around-the-parks look to relaxing-glass-of-wine-and-a-meal look. So here is a set of some of the dresses I am considering/am bringing with me on my trip, paired with some accessories and shoes to mix and match for different looks.
